Aha Moments!

3 Aha Moments
1. The idea of production placement in movies.
2.Censorship in the recording arts industry.
3. The war of the worlds broadcast

Explanations
1. I thought it was interesting how companies learned to adapt to people not viewing commercials by implementing their produces within movies we are watching.
2. I read something along the lines of adding parental advisory rating for concerts and I think that is ridiculous. I feel that it is censoring their first amendment rights.
3. I was surpised to see how influential that broadcast was on society. People are very easily persuaded by the manipulation of our media.

Media Law Cases

The case I will be discussing involves UMG Recordings vs. Veoh Networks. UMG argued that Veoh was liable for copyright infringement against certain uploaded videos. UMG stated that videos were being uploaded and no proper forms of payments were made to the copyright owners. The court ruled in favor of Veoh because they qualified for a "safe harbor" under the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

First article mentioned

I feel that UMG had the right to interrogate Veoh for these accusations. Copyright owners deserve being compensated for the work they submit and if Veoh is handling the uploads of these videos illegally, then the prosecutors should be punished.

Academic Research Project

I have decided to discuss the topic of Shock radio mainly discussing Howard Stern and his disputes with the FCC. I want to show how Stern started his career and developed his certain sense of entertainment and how the FCC challenges his words through censorship.
